How does a piece of marble acquire form, expression, and life? How does the sculptor transform lifeless matter into art, giving tangible form to human thought, emotion, and the spirit of an age?
An engaging encounter with selected works from the Acropolis Museum takes us back to moments in the long history of the Acropolis and Athens during the Archaic and Classical periods, while offering insights into the art of sculpture. We observe the sculptures closely, exploring their techniques and materials and the traces of time preserved on their surfaces. Through this experiential journey into the world of sculpture, we gain insight into the creative process and discover how works of art, created centuries ago, can still communicate with us even centuries after their creation.
